 Muslim leader Osama bin Laden should have had his hideaway hooked up with Internet access: He might have saved his own neck by reading WikiLeaks files. The unusual assertion comes from none other than Donald Rumsfeld, who notes in a Washington Post op-ed that leaked classified files from Gitmo “contain clues about al-Qaeda’s courier network and even mention Abbottabad.” If bin Laden had “closely followed WikiLeaks’ release of these documents April 25.It is unlikely he would have been there when US Navy SEALs descended into his compound days later.”

The article makes rather interesting disclosures, informing:“Rumsfeld’s larger points are to excoriate WikiLeaks for its WikiLeaking ways and to assert that the documents provide “compelling evidence of the effectiveness of Bush administration anti-terror policies after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.” They vindicate the tough decisions made for national security and refute “myths” about torture at Guantanamo Bay, he writes. “Bush administration officials have much to gain from the release of this sort of record, but for our country’s benefit it must come in the proper time and through proper channels.”

 We can think, it would be a shame to have leaked information do damage. It could ruin a truly honest political figure’s career or reprehensibly strain international relations. If the strain is bad enough, war is a possibility.

WikiLeaks suspect to get prison upgrade now............!

The US army officer who allegedly passed classified documents to whistle-blowing website WikiLeaks is being transferred to a new prison, the Pentagon announced on Tuesday. Rights groups have criticised the treatment he received in his current jail in Quantico, Virginia.

Army intelligence officer Bradley Manning, who is still awaiting trial for his role in the WikiLeaks affair, will be sent to the Fort Leavenworth prison in Kansas. There he will be allowed contact with other detainees and visitors.
He has been held at Quantico since July 2010. Campaign group Amnesty International criticised the “harsh and punitive” conditions he was kept in, including solitary confinement and being forced to sleep naked.
Quantico is designed for short-term incarceration. “It is rare if not unprecedented that somebody is there for as long as nine or 10 months,” admitted Jeh Johnson, the general counsel of the Department of Defense.
Johnson nonetheless insists that Manning’s treatment at Quantico complied with all “legal and regulatory standards”.
