Heated exchanges: Real and Barca clashed on and off the pitch |
Uefa have announced that Madrid will answer five charges relating to the throwing of missiles, a pitch invasion, Pepe's red card, the dismissal of coach Jose Mourinho and the "inappropriate statement" given by the Portuguese manager at the post-match press conference
Real Madrid and Barcelona will both face Uefa disciplinary hearings following their ill-tempered Champions League semi-final, first leg last night. Barca, who won the game 2-0 thanks to a brace from Lionel Messi, will face just one charge after substitute goalkeeper Jose Pinto was shown a red card by referee Wolfgang Stark during the half-time melee. The cases will be heard by Uefa's control and disciplinary body on Friday, May 6. After Barcelona won the first leg, Mourinho prompted a storm of protest from Barca over his post-match comments, alleging bias towards his side's bitter rivals. The Real Madrid coach said: "It shouldn't have been a red card for Pepe. Maybe someone can give me an answer. A foul on a Barcelona player and miraculously a red card.
